Signals to Scarborough

32 kms from Signals to Scarborough. A really fun flight and a new personal best for me at this site. The flight itself was easy, just a point and shoot ridge-run. The only tricky bit came navigating some cloud in Hout Bay and thus having to go deep downwind along the steep cliffs of Chapman's Peak over the ocean before finding lift. The glide from Chapman's to Scarborough was a buttery smooth 14km at 20:1 and 75 kmh ground speed. Had to stop there as that is where the National Park Border starts.

It was an incredibly beautiful day, as I hope the pics show. Is there a more scenic flying site in the world?

    Awesome flight, and beautifully documented. Not sure I'd have the bandwidth to take such good pics while worrying about making the glide through the rotor and over the bay to Chapman's. Well done.

    As usual amazing photos Adam! It's been a bit since I checked the blog. I like the "new" title. This is my kind of blog. I just had an amazing flight over Lake Tahoe. Check out Leonardo and find my name and you can see the track log. AMAZING flight for me. 13,900ft and I landed in Truckee after launching from Slide.

    Sounds like you had a awesome flight. The view must have been sweeet! Did you encounter rotors/turbulence while flying over Chapmans Peak? What does the wind direction have to be when taking off and flying towards Scarborough?
