sunset flight from Noordhoek Peak

Had a lovely late evening flight from Noordhoek Peak on the weekend with Grove and Eric.

Conditions were very light by the time we got to launch after a lengthy delay due to a locked gate.  I launched first at about 5:40pm and after a few sinking passes headed out to Noordhoek beach enjoying the smooth sledder. At times it felt like I was gliding indoors it was so smooth. Grove launched next and also headed out soon. Eric had the flight of the day, maintaining on the ridge for awhile before joining us on the beach.

Landing on Noordhoek beach in the late afternoon is simply stunning. Also, plenty of room and soft sand allows you to practice whatever you want without stress. For myself it was diving into ground effect fast while still prone and transitioning upright just before flaring... really fun.

Derigging on the beach at sunset in the company of friends... magic.
