A beautiful day at Signals, providing yet another lesson about complex micro-met. From a light and variable morning, with hot and cold mixing air, a solid WNW of 25 kmh materialized in the afternoon, blowing in some glassy smooth air off the ocean. Over the course of the next three hours, cloud formed then dissipated at multiple levels, creating a beautiful and ever changing scene. A real treat to be a part of.
After I launched I got around the face of Lion's Head on my second attempt by staying far out in front of the ridge. It was a light day and working up Lion's Head from low down required care. Once up, it was easy to maintain and boat around. From a clear sky, wispys started forming up on the hill and it was fun to buzz the hill enjoying the glory below.

Eric had arrived after me and launched later. He snuck around LH quite low and despite trying his best, slowly lost the battle to stay up there. He headed out for a perfect landing on Camps Bay beach followed by a cocktail while he waited for retrieve :)

After 2 hours, the clouds were thickening up. I got pushed off Lion's Head by encroaching cloud and then Signals went from clear to the scene below in just a few minutes. A few minutes later, it would clear again. After surfing the forming and dissipating wave for a while, I headed out to land at Mouille Point. A really fun flight at a fascinating site.
